Higher Education and Careers Guidance
From the Fourth Form (Year 10) onwards, there is a structured programme of Careers and HE guidance. Some of this is delivered within the current CPSHE curriculum; other information is provided by specific events or through independent tests.
The information below outlines our provision by year group to give a flavour of just some of the events we hold at Reed’s to support this area:
FOURTH AND FIFTH FORM (Years 10 & 11)
- Morrisby psychometric and career-interest tests
- One-to-One interviews with external career specialists, E C Careers
- Fifth Form Options Evening
- Employability Skills Development Programme (Fifth Form)
- Designated timetabled lessons introducing pupils to Unifrog, including goal-setting based on career aspirations and tracking competencies for employability
LOWER SIXTH (Year 12)
- Visit to UCAS exhibition at University of Surrey
- FutureUni Fair
- HE day with talks from university admission tutors
- Departmental visits for subject tasters
- Series of General Studies talks and Parent Presentations regarding post-18 options
UPPER SIXTH (Year 13)
- Oxbridge and Medic Preparation Twilight event (supported by Old Reedonians)
- Departmental visits for subject tasters
- Individual UCAS guidance from HE team
- General Studies talks to support decision making and for advice on life after Reed’s
ALL YEAR GROUPS
- FutureCareers seminar programme
- FutureCareers Fair
- Half-termly bulletins detailing opportunities to explore specific career/HE pathways
- Focussed time in tutor groups for HE and Career discussions
