Academy Sport - Golf
Golf is open to all pupils at Reed’s, regardless of age or ability, via a three tier programme: Beginners and Improvers, Development and Performance (Academy).
The Golf Academy provides coaching and facilities to enable pupils to realise their golfing potential whilst benefiting from a first class education. It delivers a comprehensive programme of development in association with Surrey Golf professional coaches which covers:
- Individual target setting and development programme
- On-course, driving range and short game education and practice
- Personalised physical development programme
- Sports psychology guidance
- On-going communication with club and county professionals and parents
- Tournament management
- Winter training abroad
Academy members play home matches and have professional guidance at Burhill, a local prestigious golf club, up to three times a week. They also enjoy twice weekly gym work as part of our High Performance Programme for elite athletes and the opportunity for daily practice on the short game facility located within the School’s grounds.
Teams compete at national level in competitions such as the Independent Schools’ Golf Association (ISGA) Matchplay Tournament and HMC Schools Foursomes, at which Reed’s won the National title in 2014. We regularly reach regional and national level in both of these competitions and enjoy a circuit of matches against local schools at some of the highest rated courses in the country. All of our Academy players also play at county or national level.
A wide variety of coaching and practising opportunities is provided for the Beginners and Improvers programme. Working in partnership with a local golf centre, golf lessons for all year groups are on offer as part of the school’s activities programme. Golf is a timetabled option during senior games afternoons and golfers of all abilities compete in a keenly contested House Tournament.
