A fun and informative day At Fishbourne Roman Palace
BackSecond Form Latinists visited Fishbourne Roman Palace and although conditions were inclement, the boys’ spirits couldn’t be dampened on a fun and informative day. Upon arrival, they explored the remains of the palace and were struck by how intricate and well preserved many of the mosaics were. In a “military matters” workshop the boys learnt what it was like to be a Roman soldier, and were able both to dress up as legionaries and handle artefacts which were over 2000 years old – a real privilege. The boys then enjoyed looking around the museum, a particular highlight being the extremely well-preserved skeleton found buried in the palace. Overall, they had an enjoyable and informative day, and are now very well set up to tackle their Fishbourne ‘estate agent’ projects.
