Pop Art inspiration at the Pallant House Gallery
BackFourth Form artists travelled to Chichester to visit the Pop Art Exhibition held at the Pallant House Gallery. The trip was used to inform the Pop Art project which pupils are working on in class. Each pupil selected an artist from the collection to review, analyse and, in some instances, re-create their own responses. The pupils were content with their chosen artwork for a number of hours, quietly drawing and completing their responses.
After a well-earned lunch they returned to the gallery for a workshop with Kate Boucher, a practising artist. This involved a series of drawing exercises, which relied on using different approaches and modes of working. It was incredible to see how the pupils began to draw more freely and loosely. Kate also brought along some of her own work, including her sketchbook, which she openly showed and discussed. The evidence of a personal journey with her drawing medium served as a great example to all the budding artists in the room.
The behaviour of the entire group must be commended, as they were excellent ambassadors for Reed’s in the quaint town of Chichester.
