Theatre Technician

Back

Reed’s School is a fantastic place to work. Teachers and pupils alike flourish in its friendly, supportive, forward-thinking community. It is one of the leading Independent Day and Boarding Schools in the country and is proud to be providing an education for around 800 pupils, including a significant number who are funded by our charitable foundation. The school is all-boys from 11-16 and has a co-educational Sixth Form.

We are seeking to recruit a flexible and enthusiastic Theatre Technician to assist the Drama and Music departments in the organisation of stage lighting, sound, AV and set requirements. The role-holder will also be involved in the management and organisation of drama resources, ensuring that the Drama department is compliant with health and safety legislation.

The role-holder will also assist with whole School events which require technical expertise. This will include performances and events outside of the Drama department, assemblies, visiting speakers, Speech Day and Open Mornings.

The role will be term time only with some additional weeks before the start and at the end of each term (to be agreed), however, an all-year-round role could be considered for the right candidate.

There will also be a requirement to work some weekends and evenings in order to provide the necessary level of support for Drama and Music performances.

The closing date for applications will be Midday on Friday 31st January 2025.

For Safer Recruitment purposes all applicants must complete a Reed’s School application form. Full details including a job description and application form can be found on our website or alternatively by emailing hr@reeds.surrey.sch.uk.

Interested applicants are encouraged to submit a completed application as soon as possible. The School reserves the right to interview and appoint before the closing date, should a suitable candidate present themselves

The School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). The School may carry out online searches on shortlisted applicants and all applicants will be required to provide details of their online profile, including social media account names/handles, as part of their application.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. The School is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions on a self-declaration form in advance of attending an interview (including those which are "spent" unless they are "protected" under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children.
