Another record-breaking year at GCSE
BackWe are absolutely delighted to be celebrating another record-breaking year at GCSE and IGCSE with 95% of grades awarded at A*-B (9-6), 73% at A*/A (9-7). The grades at A*(9-8) were 52%, an increase of 5 percentage points from last year, with over half of these being at the highest grade of 9. This outstanding performance continues our three year trend of record-breaking results.
Thrilled Headmaster, Mark Hoskins, commented “I am delighted that, once again, our pupils have done exceptionally well in their GCSE exams. My warmest congratulations to them all, and also to our inspirational and dedicated teachers who have supported them. This reflects how well we are able to realise the individual potential of every pupil.”
Particular strengths came in Maths, the sciences, Latin, History and Drama. There were some fantastic individual achievements with two pupils gaining 10 grade 9s, a further nine pupils a full sweep of grades 8 and 9, and more than 30% of pupils awarded all grades at 7 and above.
Joe Sheridan, who achieved 9 grade 9s, commented, “I’m completely over the moon, especially with my French mark which I was a bit worried about. I’m going on to do Maths, Economics, Philosophy and Religion at A Level and hope to go to Oxford to study PPE after that.” His mother said, “I am absolutely thrilled, he’s worked very hard.”
Ethan Cox achieved nine GCSEs at 9 and 8 grades, and said, “I’m pretty happy, I did better than I anticipated. Next year I’m going to study A Levels in Biology, Chemistry and Psychology with plans to do Medicine after that.”
