2019 starts well for our golfers
BackOur Academy golfers have qualified for the ISGA National Singles Matchplay finals at Prince’s/Royal St George’s in April, after comfortably beating Charterhouse in the area finals, 2.5 to 0.5.
Players Matthew Hawke, Austin Gambel and Thomas Hawke had their toughest match in the area semi-finals last term when they beat Wellington in a thrilling match, 2-1. Sasha Crockett and Axel Slijepcevic have also played in early rounds of this event. A team of three will compete in the finals and selection will be tough! I’m very proud of all of the players; those cold early morning practices of the last few weeks have certainly paid off!
2019 has been a really good year so far for the Reed’s School Golf Academy, and hopefully there are a lot of successes still to come. In just a few short weeks of the year we have also qualified for the HMC Foursomes Regional Semi Finals which will be played in March.
Let’s hope we can equal or better 2018 which proved to be a bumper year for the Academy with the following successes:
- ISGA Schools’ Cup – Individual 1st and 2nd place, TEAM WINNERS
- British Schools’ Southern Open – Boys Nett 1st place, GIRLS WINNER, team nett winners
- Southern Schools’ Invitational – Boys and Girls Individual Winners, TEAM WINNERS
