Music Scholar, Amber Emson, performs a violin recital
BackThe Elgar Room at the Royal Albert Hall was the setting for a superb violin recital by Reed’s Music Scholar, Amber Emson.
Playing to a packed house, Music Scholar, Amber Emson, opened her programme in the company of fellow Royal College of Music students Willard Carter (Cello) and Lasha Utalishvili (Piano) for a performance of the opening movement of Rebecca Clarke’s Piano Trio. This dramatic piece, coupled with the intensity of the performance, stunned the audience, who marvelled at the beautiful sense of ensemble created by these three musicians. Amber then took centre stage, accompanied by pianist Alison Rhind, to perform Clara Schumann’s Romance 1 and 3 and the centrepiece of the programme, Brahms’ Violin Sonata in D minor op 108. The maturity, control and musicianship Amber displayed was extraordinary and she rounded off her programme with the virtuosic ‘Polonaise de concert’ by Wieniawski to rapturous applause and appreciation. An unforgettable musical occasion for all of those privileged to be present.
