D of E stars get their awards
BackA wonderful Duke of Edinburgh Award ceremony at Reed’s this week was held to present our successful Bronze and Silver Award winners with their certificates. Some of the pupils spoke about their experiences whilst completing the Silver Award. Thomas and Pierce Gaut, Matthew Gelder and Aron Davies all gave very precise accounts of volunteering, expedition, physical and skills.
Whilst there were a number of Old Reedonians who have now achieved their Gold Awards, none were able to attend due to university or travel commitments. Entrants have until they are 25 years old to complete the award and it was announced that one Old Reedonian, who left Reed’s in 2012, had just completed his Gold award, within a few days of his 25th Birthday!
Another Old Reedonian, Bethan Davies, kindly attended as guest speaker. She spoke about the benefits of completing any level using the word ‘AWARD’ and dedicating each letter to an aspect of the Duke of Edinburgh Award. As ever, we are very grateful to the staff who have worked so hard to help and encourage pupils to complete and receive their awards.
