One of our Aims is to 'Prepare pupils for the Future' and we like to start early! Pupils in The Close (yrs 7&8) took part in a Careers Competition during National Careers Week. They had to discover staff members who had previously worked in different sectors outside of education highlighting the concept of 'Squiggly Careers,' emphasising that career paths are not always linear and choices at GCSE and A Level can lead to a wide range of career paths. The boys were fascinated to learn that, before teaching, Dr McLaughlin had been a poker dealer, Mr Bates had conducted research on cancer therapies, both Mr Perceval and Dr Smith had careers as solicitors, and Mr Davey had worked as a journalist! The winning tutor group, Mrs Paterson's, were thrilled to learn they would benefit from a Krispy Kreme party! 🍩 . #squigglycareers #Diversecareers #careerchoices
